Three Series wheels come down to which chassis you own, because BMW changed the hub in the years people shop. E36, E46, E90, E92 and F30 are 5x120 with a 72.56 mm bore. The G20 moved to 5x112 with a 66.56 bore, the same numbers as the current M cars and the A90 Supra. Lug bolts instead of nuts on all of them, M12x1.5 through the E9x and M14x1.25 from the F30 on.
The common move is a square 18 on the E46 and E9x and a mild stagger on the F30 and G20, because those two came staggered on M Sport trims and the rear fender has the room. Set the year, trim and ride height above and the page answers it for your car.
Bolts are the thing to get right. A BMW wheel bolt is conical seat, and the length changes with the wheel's pad thickness, so an aftermarket set often needs its own bolts rather than the factory ones. Spacers are common on these cars to get the wheel out to the fender, and a hub centric spacer with longer bolts is the honest way to do it. The 72.56 bore on the older cars is large, so hub rings come up less than on a Honda.

What bolt pattern is a BMW 3 Series
5x120 with a 72.56 mm bore from the E36 through the F30, and 5x112 with a 66.56 bore on the 2019 on G20. Lug bolts on all of them: M12x1.5 through the E92 and M14x1.25 on the F30 and G20. The E30 is 4x100. A set from an F30 does not bolt to a G20, so the chassis code is the first thing to check.
Can I run a staggered setup on a 3 Series

Do I need hub rings for BMW wheels
Less often than on a Honda or a Subaru, because the 72.56 mm bore on the E36 through F30 is large and many aftermarket wheels are drilled to match it. When the wheel bore is larger, a ring fills the gap. The G20's 66.56 bore is smaller, so more designs need a ring there. Bolt length is the more common mistake on a BMW.
