Corners get flatter and the straight line ride does not get worse. That is the trade a sway bar makes, and no other suspension part makes it. The bar ties the left and right wheels together, so when the body leans in a corner the bar twists and resists it. Ride over a bump with both wheels together and the bar does nothing. Stiffness climbs fast with diameter, so a small increase in bar size is a big increase in roll resistance.
Which end you stiffen decides how the car turns. A stiffer rear bar on a front wheel drive car like a Civic or a GTI cuts understeer and gets the rear to rotate. A stiffer front bar on a rear wheel drive car calms a nervous back end. Most bars from Eibach and aFe Power come with two or three end link holes so you can pick the stiffness, and the softest hole is the right place to start on a street car.
End links matter after a drop. Lowering the car changes the angle of the stock links and can preload the bar so it works before the corner starts. Adjustable end links reset that. Polyurethane bushings come with most bars and need grease at install or they squeak by the first cold morning. Rear bar installs on multilink cars are quick. Front bars on some cars mean dropping the subframe an inch, and the listing says so.
