What is the difference between a lip and a splitter

A lip follows the bottom edge of the bumper and is a look. A splitter is a flat plate that extends forward under the bumper and makes downforce by separating the air over the car from the air under it. On the street a lip is the practical part because it bends when you hit a curb. A splitter needs support rods and a driveway that does not slope.

Does a spoiler do anything on a street car

At legal speeds, almost nothing except change the look, and that is fine. A trunk spoiler cleans up airflow off the rear deck a little. A wing on stands is a different part that makes real downforce at track speed and adds drag at every speed. Buy the spoiler for the look and the wing for the track day.

Do I need to paint a front lip

Most arrive in textured black or gloss black and look finished as they are. A body colored lip needs a paint shop and the listing says whether the part is primed for it. Carbon fiber comes clear coated. Polyurethane takes paint but flexes, so use a flex additive or the paint cracks the first time the lip does not.

Will a body kit change what wheels fit

Flares will, the rest will not. A flare adds coverage past the stock fender and lets a wider wheel with a lower offset sit under it. Once our crew has measured that flare on that car, the wheel listings widen the offset window when you save the flare on your car. Lips, skirts and spoilers do not touch the wheel arch.
