Here's the part people miss. Drop a car and the tire climbs into a fender that curves inward as it goes, so a wheel that cleared at factory height can start catching an inch lower. Springs or coilovers for a daily
Springs, if you want one height and a ride close to what you've got. Progressive springs on healthy factory dampers keep most of the comfort for a fraction of the money. Coilovers earn their price when you want to change height later, firm things up for a track day, or go lower than a spring can manage without eating shock travel.
Do I need an alignment afterward
Yes, any time the height moves. Lowering pulls camber negative and shifts toe at both ends, and toe is the one that eats tires. Book it once the springs have settled and ask for the printout. If the shop can't bring camber back into range, that's your signal to look at a camber kit.
Does lowering change which wheels fit
It narrows things, yes. The tire sits deeper in the arch and the arch curves in as it rises, so a wide wheel that used to clear now meets the fender lip. Save the lowered height on your car and the listings redo the math. If we haven't checked that combination yet, the site says so and we hand check it before it ships.
