BMW M3 wheels and rims

961 designs fit a 1994+ BMW M3 at stock height. Pick your year and trim and the list gets exact.

M3 shopping is a brake and fender problem more than a bolt pattern problem, at least until the G80 turned up. Everything before it runs 5x120. The G80's on 5x112, and it grew an arch that swallows a much wider rear tire. Tell us the year and trim and we'll show what clears the caliper on yours.

The move on all of them is a lighter wheel at the factory diameter, or a size down, and then more tire. The older cars came on 18s. F80 owners drop a size for track use, because there isn't much sidewall on the factory 19. G80 owners keep the stagger, since that front caliper's enormous and the arch was built around it.

Bolts changed with the chassis, and the length always changes with the wheel, so you'll be buying a set with the wheels. Track cars run square so the tires rotate, and the older arches take it happily. On an F80 or G80 the rear is cut for a wide tire, so going square there means giving up rear width rather than gaining anything.

Common questions

What bolt pattern is a G80 M3
It's 5x112, with conical seat bolts. That's the first M3 that isn't 5x120, so nothing from the older cars fits. G20 and G87 wheels share the hub, and so does the Supra. Tell us the trim and the list keeps only what clears that caliper.
Will F80 M3 wheels fit a G80
No. They're different patterns, so the holes don't line up and the wheel won't center on the hub. The G80 also wants more rear width than most F80 sets have. Pick your car first and you'll only see that design in the drilling it bolts to.
Can I run square on an M3
On an E46 or an E92, yes, and track guys do it so the set rotates. On an F80 or a G80 the rear arch is cut for a wide tire, so square means less tire at the back than the factory gave you. That's a lowered, measured build rather than something you'll bolt on.
What wheels fit an E46 M3
Start from the factory stagger, then a 19 a half inch wider at each end is the common upgrade. The rear fender is your limit on this car, and a roll is normal once it's lowered. Plenty of these have already been rolled by a previous owner, so tell us what's been done to yours.
