Everything you put your hands on lives in here. Knobs, steering wheels and the hubs they need, seats and the brackets that bolt them down, pedal sets, pods and the gauges that fill them. None of it changes how the car sits. All of it changes how the car feels from the driver seat, and most of it's a hand tool afternoon.

It's the small stuff that decides whether a part fits. A knob thread comes from the shifter, so a manual Honda doesn't share one with a manual Subaru. A steering wheel needs a hub cut for your column and a plan for the airbag light. Seats need a base that lines up with the floor bolts and carries the buckle across.

Read the notes on seats and wheels, because both touch safety gear. A fixed back bucket with no harness bar is a race seat wearing a lap belt, and a quick release hub retires the airbag for good. Both are fine on a dedicated track car. For a daily, you're better off with a reclining sport seat and a thicker rim that keeps the bag.

Will an aftermarket steering wheel kill my airbag

With a traditional hub, yes. The bag lives in the factory wheel and the adapter has nowhere to put it, so the light stays lit unless a resistor fools the module. That makes it a track car part in most states. A few wheels keep the factory bag and only change the rim, and that's the one to take on a daily.

What thread is my shift knob

It comes from the shifter, not the badge on the hood. Save your car and the knob listings filter to the thread that fits it. If the knob you want only comes in something else, an adapter closes the gap on most cars and it's a separate line on the order. Automatics are the exception and they'll usually want a car specific kit.

Do aftermarket seats work with my seat belt

With the right base, yes. The base picks up the factory floor points and carries the buckle so the belt latches where it always did. What doesn't come across is the occupant sensor and the side bag built into the factory seat, and losing those can light the dash. Each listing says whether a base includes a buckle mount and a bypass.
